With small-scale fishers as our partners, ABALOBI is a South African-based organisation with global reach, working to co-create thriving, equitable, and climate-resilient small-scale fishing communities by strengthening financial inclusion, community infrastructure, collective social entrepreneurship, and data-driven fisheries management. We support fisher organisations, NGOs, and governments through capacity building, digital tools, and fisheries data collection, while connecting fishing communities to fair local and global markets through our Fish With A Story model and linked financial services. By combining co-management, fisheries improvement initiatives, traceability, cold chain systems, and innovative technologies, we help small-scale fishers improve livelihoods, rebuild fisheries, and achieve long-term social, economic, and ecological sustainability through participatory, community-led approaches.
