Dr. Georgia Holly

CHFP Project Manager

Georgia is a marine archaeologist and natural heritage specialist at the University of Edinburgh. With a background in both marine biology and archaeology, Georgia’s research focusses on the interconnections between natural and cultural marine resources; and addressing the management of these resources within integrated policies and frameworks.

Georgia has worked as part of multiple ocean survey projects from underwater excavations to coral reef surveys, and currently conducts research projects which focus on the integration of heritage and communities into environmental protection frameworks such as Marine Protected Areas, and coastal climate change mitigation plans.

Dr. Arturo Rey Da Silva

Dr Arturo Rey da Silva is a maritime archaeologist with a large experience in the field of international cooperation, capacity-building, and heritage diplomacy. Between 2011 and 2018 he was part of the UNESCO Secretariat for the 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.

Hannah is a marine PhD researcher affiliated with the Universities of Stirling and Edinburgh, and Historic England. Her research focuses on valuing marine cultural heritage, aiming to better represent the ocean’s cultural dimensions in policy. With a background spanning both underwater ecological surveys and social science research with coastal communities, Hannah’s work blends the natural and cultural elements of our relationship with the ocean.

Annie Edwards

Head of Partnerships at SeaVoice

Annie is an assistant on the Cultural Heritage Framework Programme with the University of Edinburgh, an official action of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, and has worked with Edinburgh Marine Archaeology across their challenge-led projects including Rising from the Depths. Annie holds an MSc in Marine Systems and Policies from the University of Edinburgh, during which her dissertation research highlighted the role of Marine Cultural Heritage in the sustainable co-management of fishing in marine reserves, through a qualitative analysis of fieldwork conducted in SE Scotland and NW Spain. Additional research focuses include community-led solutions, sustainable marine development, equitable policy implementation, public outreach and education, bio-cultural heritage, and coastal resilience and adaptation.

Annie is also the Head of Partnerships at SeaVoice, a magazine delving into the intricate relationship between culture, climate and water, further supporting the Cultural Heritage Framework Programme and UN Ocean Decade. Annie brings extensive experience in strategic communications and community relations, leading the public relations for Polar Bears International for over six years on behalf of Fabric Media, which has taken her to the subarctic and Arctic. She’s collaborated with communities on their approaches to human-polar bear coexistence, and has built relationships with top-tier reporters, filmmakers, and brands to publicise science, policy, and climate solutions. Annie received her BSc in Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 2015, and began her career with Fabric Media in Los Angeles, working with companies in technology and entertainment, while launching Fabric Studios LA, where she curated and hosted community events across activism and the arts.
