A Bottle of Science to the Ocean

Lead Organisation: Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Ecuadorian Navy (INOCAR)
Location: Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands

The project seeks to bridge science and society by transforming oceanographic knowledge into accessible, visually engaging, and culturally meaningful communication products. Through multilingual micro-publications, audiovisual content, and storytelling inspired by both scientific research and traditional maritime knowledge, the initiative aims to strengthen public understanding of the ocean and its role in everyday life. Focusing on Ecuador’s continental coast, the Galápagos Islands, and Ecuadorian scientific expeditions to Antarctica, the project highlights the connections between ocean science, cultural heritage, and community wellbeing, while fostering a deeper appreciation of the Southeast Pacific Ocean and its unique ecosystems.
