Session C1 will present both CHFP and non-CHFP initiatives that highlight the significance of marine cultural heritage in promoting sustainable ocean practice, ocean literacy, engaging communities, and shaping policy. Through diverse perspectives, this session will address:

  • The role of marine cultural heritage in shaping identity, history, and public engagement with the ocean.
  • Contributions of marine cultural heritage to marine conservation and sustainable governance.
  • Policy gaps that affect marine cultural heritage preservation and recommendations for addressing these within current frameworks.
