CHFP at the Ocean Literacy World Conference in Venice: Strengthening Global Partnerships and Showcasing the SeaVoice Annual

The CHFP was honoured to participate in the Ocean Literacy World Conference in Venice on World Ocean Day, where attendees endorsed the Venice Declaration for Ocean Literacy in Action.

This collaborative document, crafted with contributions from participants, represents a living commitment to evolve through global dialogue, advocating for ocean literacy and restoring humanity’s relationship with the ocean. Ocean literacy is pivotal to the CHFP’s mission, as it plays a key role in preserving marine cultural heritage and fostering a deeper understanding of our relationship with the ocean.

The conference was a vibrant forum for exchanging innovative ideas on protecting, experiencing, restoring, and conserving our oceans through the lens of ocean literacy. One of the key highlights for the CHFP at the event was the dissemination of our latest publication, the SeaVoice Annual. We brought several copies to share with attendees, gathering valuable feedback on its content and design. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the SeaVoice Annual for its powerful storytelling and visually captivating presentation.

Cristina Gabetti’s meditation sessions provided a reflective space, and the “Kindergarten of the Lagoon”, a short film by UNESCO and the Prada Group, showcased a creative approach to educating children about nature within the Venice Lagoon. Workshops like the ‘Sea Beyonders’ also inspired participants to reconnect with their inner child, exploring ocean themes in imaginative ways.

The conference not only allowed the CHFP to showcase our work but also ignited exciting new collaborations and partnerships, with many attendees eager to contribute to future initiatives. This momentum promises to invigorate the CHFP’s mission and expand its global impact as we continue our efforts to foster ocean literacy.

The CHFP extends sincere thanks to UNESCO and the Prada Group for organizing such an important and inspiring event. The conference has strengthened our connections with global ocean leaders and deepened our commitment to nurturing humanity’s relationship with the ocean for a sustainable future.
